I dont understand one thing.. the focus seems to be mainly on the Yahoo + Microsoft merger and the claim seems to be to combat Google. I think this is a stupid reason for Microsoft and Yahoo to join hands. I mean if their focus was to provide a better technology or make a major breakthrough its fine.. but the very fact that both companies,  Microsoft and Yahoo have not really utilized social media to explain why this merger is happening tells me they are clueless .. All I can see everywhere is “fight Google to stay alive”

This is bogus! They are trying to reinvent the wheel?? Google came up with something radical. If I was Microsoft or yahoo, I would rather tie up with the niches in the industry and find something new to come up with rather than spend bucket loads of money on a fight. I dont think the online community should even think of accepting this reason because we are happy with google.. so come up with something else !! who wants just another search engine with integrations?? Let the exisitng people take care of that .. Something radically new is what is expected of companies like Microsoft and Yahoo who potentially have of a lot of funds..

Its like two old men hooking up with the same old ideas to impress some investor! completely stupid .. Think MS & Yahoo.. Think dammit!

I wrote them and at the time I found it very funny. It looks like nobody else did! LOL, except a couple of my close friends. I am sure they wanted to be nice . I was looking at some of the entries for the “IndiBlogger of the month contest“. Man! I was impressed. I didn’t know humor could be that twisted and dark to completely gay at times . Thats the best thing about humor, isn’t it? people might laugh, stare and maybe even insult your jokes but when you wrote that article , there would have been a little child in your head laughing its head off

I saw a  discussion on the IndiBlogger.in forum about some humor blogs being rejected for the IndiBlogger of the month contest. I went back to take a look and decided that some of the blogs that I rejected were funny after all! I have been on an overdose of humor entries for the past few days and I might have been  bit too hasty.  Sorry ! but the man in my head is still doing the jig

So every IndiBlogger who feels that his posts are funny and was rejected by some unfunny man (Me).. please do post a comment on the IndiBlogger forum or in this post and I will do the needful ..

I had a few more pics and decided to update,

I wanted to be a part of the so called “Chilling” experience and so I wanted to absorb the atmosphere. There were issues though, My mom had come here for a wedding and was hell bent on being a driver. A fine line you know, parents can get so confused and mistake you for a driver who knows all the one ways, wont overspeed and will drive 200 Km’s through the city to get to the wrong place! Well I had it coming, so i decided to ditch my mom and Grand ma at the ever so boring wedding (heck, when I got married I asked diana if we could do this by email.. I mean its a lot faster than getting to the church). After that was successful Myself and Diana put on some party clothes (jeans!) and reached Mercure. I was completely chilled out already with my folks at the wedding and me drinkin a lot of Fosters.. Not a care in the world!

Now the chilled out part is that after the party I still changed into boring mans clothing and headed off for dinner at the wedding .. All I remember is that the brides father mentioned “Foo…” I was off grabbing a plate. I assumed the sentence was food will be served now” .. I felt a bit more chilled out a little later when I ran into the brides dad and all i could do was stare at his head .. All I could hear in my head was ” WTF Is he wearing a wig??” .. Oh yes! My mom confirmed

I guess it was the idea , the lifestyle, that I found interesting. I actually had a chilled out day! I mean I didnt care about the consequences. Me and my wife had a lot of fun together and I guess everyday can be a chilled out day and Fosters has shown that its easy … oh and back to my mom.. To all my friends/relatives/countrymen who know my mom, kindly don’t be the bastard who reports this to her

I finally got a chance to attend the Fosters Art Of Chilling party in Mercure (Koramangaloa) in Bangalore. I love going to parties where you really do not have to have any expectations and just go for an afternoon of complete “numbness of the brain” and lotsa food and booze.. I did have a good time and so did Diana. There were so many pictures that I took.. here are a few pics so that you can absorb a bit of the atmosphere ..

The Nostaligic 50’s is where one  of the oldest serials was set in  that was the most hilarious and ran for a whole decade with 11 seasons.. and yet in todays world watching this commedy would still bring laughter to you.

I remember back in the old days I would eagerly watch this show to see what were the Cunnighams and the gang of pals be upto today and…..

I mean I can still remember their strong friendship bond, thier crazy kick arse stunts they did, cute romances

…….who can ever forget FONZY !! Man he was kewl !!!

For some insane reason, Happy days sort of reminded me of Archie maybe it was because of  Richie Cunningham’s orange hair.. lol

Can’t believe that today  that freckle faced orange head boy Ritchie Cunningham aka Ron Howard is now turned producer and has produced some real wonderful films( Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, Cinderella Man etc..)  and a good favourite of mine was Da Vinvi Code and now his second part to the movie ANGELS AND DEMONS..

And also acted in one really kewl movie .. ‘American Graffiti

Okie now its off from blogging and straight to the Theatre to watch Angels and Demons… Will be back

In one of my many travels I met this guy who plays golf almost everyday from morning 6:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Eagleton golf village . He let me in on a few insights into the world of Golf . I was very curious about the legacy of the sport as there is a live telecast of every single tournament on Start sports, ESPN, Ten Sports etc. I wanted to find out who the games followers were! and many many more.

These days Golf is not a gentlemen only game .. Lots of women too participate and one of then quite hot on the circuit right now is Lorena_Ochoa from Mexico .

The cool thing about golf is that if you feel that you have missed your career in sports, Golf is a good outlet

I was always a wannabe sportsman. I did athletics till college, was  part of the volleyball team etc but never really got anywhere. Motivation, lack of awareness, complete ignorance etc resulted in me being very short sighted. The main thing that interested me in sports was just the competition .. I always found it exhilarating when competing with fellow athletes etc. The cool thing about golf is that if you feel that you have missed your career in sports, Golf is a good outlet, I mean you do not have to be as physically strong as in other sports. You can even start playing the game when you are forty or fifty and compete on your zonals etc and clubs like Eagleton and Government turfs like KGA etc do have a number of tournaments. What Golf does best is to bridge the age gap between players and level the sport.
But mind you, this sport requires talent more than anything else. There are people who have played the sport for over a decade and have got nowhere. But if you are athletic and have got a good eye then its like cricket without a fast bowler at times lol.

The Rules :

One visit to a golf club might set you back a cool 1500 bux a day for balls , a caddy etc . That effectively means that youwill be spending upto 50K a month if you play daily ..

There are some very interesting customs (could be unofficial)  like the fact that you have to wear a collared T shirt buttoned to the top I think. You have to be on time .. dammit! right on time! You cannot speak during another players shot etc etc .. Its quite expensive too .. you might have to shell out anywhere between 6 lakhs to 20 lakhs in admission fees/yearly deposits.

A topic on indiblogger.in jogged my memory a bit and I remembered this one book I read a long time ago that added a certain certain charm while stating very serious cases.

There have been so many good books suggested from the usual favourites The God Of Small Things to books on philosophy and fantasy Fountainhead  by  Ayn Rand,Lord of the Rings  by  JRR Tolkein and also books for women like Shopaholic series by sophie kinsella etc

Do read The House of Blue Mangoes by David Davidar .. He is from my hometown in Nagercoil and he is now one of the top management at Penguin books.

He set up the first Penguin publications in India.
The story is set in a time where Indians were coping with the English rule. Its Indian, its written in a very lucid style and if you have not read it yet.. do read it and you will love it.

Incidentally “Blue Mango” is the literal meaning of a type of Mango called “Neelam” which is Blue in Tamil and this is a speciality in south India (Nagercoil near kanyakumari where I hail from) Hence the name house of Blue Mangoes
